The citric acid is in the product to help with the flavour since it adds to the “tartness” of the taste. It is an ingredient that is also in our chewables and is part of citrus fruits.  We do often add parts of foods as well as whole foods, for example the seed oils in the Omega blend.  There are often times where we are limited to how we label things due to restrictions and specifications set by the regulatory agencies and it doesn’t always show the differences in what we use compared to what others use, for example we are very specific about our citrus products, specifying not only that the they actually come from citrus, but also that the they contain only parts of citrus fruits that we allow (we don’t allow grapefruit, for example, because of some contraindications with some prescription medicines). To the regulators, it doesn’t matter where it came from as long as it meets the specifications that they designated as allowed and is produced using an allowable manufacturing process.
