Unfortunately there are Salicylates are natural chemicals made by plants, similar to a pesticide as they exist to protect plants against insects and disease, however, they are natural. They can be found in fruits and vegetables such as blueberries, apples, broccoli, tomato and mushrooms, therefore, there may be traces of salicylates in many fruits and vegetables, so it is a tough road to climb. Our suggestion in adding Juice Plus+® is just the same as when starting off as a new customer.
Our recommendation for any new customer Juice Plus+ products.
However, fruits and veggies have the highest level of salicylates when they are not yet ripe and conversely, when they are ripe, they have the lowest levels of salicylates. Our ingredients are picked at the peak level of ripeness which may reduce the level of salicylates present. To learn more about How Juice Plus+ is made, check out this video.
If you have a customer with an intolerance or is concerned about salicylates, our suggestion is to always check with your healthcare professional prior to taking the products and if they permit the product, our recommendation is to start slowly to become accustomed to phytochemicals from raw fruits and vegetables. Ask them to take only one capsule per day for 7 – 10 days (alternate between Fruit and Vegetable). If they tolerate that well, begin taking two capsules a day, one of each. Do that for two weeks. Once they are comfortable with the product, they can go to the full 2+2 dose.
Ask them to be sure they have an adequate daily water intake and to not increase the amount until comfortable at the existing level. One other suggestion; ask them to take the capsules mid-meal.
That is, make sure there is some food mixed with the capsule. In that way, the nutrients will be absorbed a little slower.
If they do it like that, tell them to only take a sip of water, enough to swallow, they can drink the rest of the water at some other time.
