For the long answer about the safety of consuming soy, John Robbins wrote a fabulous, well-balanced article here.

For the short answer, I say that soy is neither an incredible health panacea nor is it dangerous. All food, even broccoli, can be bad for you if that is all you eat and there is no variety in your diet.

...

Complete contains high quality, low processed, double washed non-GMO soybean protein. This is not the same as soy isolates. Soy is a high-quality protein which contains all the essential amino acids (EAA).

Amino Acids link with other organic molecules in the body to form PROTEIN. They are essential for life and cellular function. EAA cannot be made by the body in sufficient amounts for normal function and so we must obtain them from our food sources.  All nine EAA are provided in Juice Plus+ Complete.

Those with a soy allergy should not consume Complete.

Did you know:

  • Soybeans and soy foods may reduce the risk of a range of health problems, including cardiovascular disease, stroke, coronary heart disease (CHD) and some cancers, as well as improving bone health.
  • Soy is a high-quality protein – one or 2 daily serves of soy products can be beneficial to our health.
  • Soybeans contain hormone-like substances (called phytoestrogens) that copy the action of the female hormone oestrogen. It is thought soy can reduce menopausal symptoms (such as hot flushes).
  • About 4 daily servings of soy foods in conjunction with a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol can reduce our LDL (bad) cholesterol by around 3 to 4%.
  • Soy allergies are common in babies and children.
