Juice Plus+ Research

Australia’s regulations and standards are some of the most stringent in the world when it comes to advertising Therapeutic Goods and especially when making any health claims.

Our Juice Plus+ Capsules and Chewables in Australia are in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) (Fruit, Vegetable & Berry Blends AUST L 433994, Fruit & Vegetable Blends AUST L 437236, Berry Blend AUST L 393990, Omega Blend AUST L 427674, Fruit Blend Chews AUST L 301771, Vegetable Blend Chews AUST L 301772) which is responsible for keeping a record of which therapeutic goods can be legally supplied in Australia. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) oversees what can and can’t be used in advertising for all therapeutic products and we must abide by the regulations that they set.

This includes recently made changes to the general advertising requirements  which forbids the use of:

Testimonials to be made by Partners – “Testimonials cannot be made by “Individuals involved with the production, sale, supply or marketing of the goods”.  Further to an ongoing rule for endorsements by Healthcare professionals – “In advertising therapeutic goods, endorsements cannot be made by Health professionals, health practitioners or medical researchers”.

However, prior to the regulatory changes in the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code, we already believed it was important to have solid facts on our side as we all know testimonials can be inflated and results can vary from person to person. We’ve been committed to researching the benefits of the use of Juice Plus+ products over the past 20 years and over 25 studies have been conducted during this time.

We pay for our research (which is not cheap) as no-one else is going to pay to see the results of our products. However, all our studies are double blind (the researcher nor the volunteer knows which capsule is the placebo or which is the actual product, only the head researcher does) and all the correct protocols are followed.

We support the research with a grant, supply the product required for the research and supply the placebo required for the research.

Results are then gathered over the term of the study period, the data is analysed, conclusions are drawn and are evaluated against the aim of the study. Our funding pays for the research, not the result.

In order to use the health claims that we’ve found in our studies to be true, we must submit “which demonstrates the indications and claims are true, valid and not misleading”, to have the indications added to its’ respective ARTG entry (see individual listings above).  Only after this has been achieved can these claims permitted to be used for advertisement purposes. For more information on TGA guidelines for levels and kinds of evidence to support indications and claims click here.

The institutions put their name and reputation on the line when they publish, so when someone questions the research, they also question the institution and the learned researchers. We can only reference studies in AU/NZ after they have been reviewed, accepted and the ARTG has amended the current product listing to add any additional claims based on the research.

There have been over 25 double blind studies conducted (in leading hospitals and universities around the world) over almost 30 years that Juice Plus+ has been around that have showcased the benefits of adding Juice Plus+ to your routine.
